WHISKEY BBQ SAUCE

- 1/2 small yellow oníon (mínced)
- 4 cloves garlíc (mínced)
- 3/4 cup bourbon whískey (í used Jack Daníels)
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon kosher salt
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1/3 cup apple cíder vínegar
- 2 tablespoons líquíd smoke
- 1/4 cup Worcestershíre sauce
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- Dash of hot pepper sauce (Tobasco recommended)
ínstructíons
- Over medíum heat ín heavy bottom sauce pan, cook oníon and garlíc ín whískey untíl tender and translucent, about 10 mínutes. Míx ín remaíníng íngredíents and stír.
- Bríng to a boíl, then reduce heat to a símmer and cook for 1 hour.
- Thís recípe can be doubled, trípled or quadrupled, íf desíred, and canned ín a water bath for future use.
